I ♥ Faces - Week 21 - "Happy Birthday" & "Pets"

I ♥ Faces is a photography site focused on the art of capturing faces and their various emotions. Each week, people from across the world have the opportunity to enter their favorite face photos into two categories ~ kids and adults.

This week's challenge is easy...who doesn't have a picture of their kid's birthday? Well, maybe not that easy...especially when I can take up to 100 pictures during a single moment, like blowing out the candles! But I chose this one of Emily during her big brother Alex's 4th birthday. This one always sticks in my mind because I have a photo of myself at this age wearing a birthday hat almost identical to this one, and we look just alike!

Now, this week is special, not only do we get to enter a precious face of our kiddos, we also get to include our 4-legged family members, too!
This is a favorite of mine, too! Skipper has been in our family for 10 years and he has been the best companion to Alex and Emily! This was taken a couple of years ago and Alex couldn't resist stopping to give Skipper a big bear hug! Skipper...say 'Cheese!'

Say What?

Every now and then, the things Alex and Emily say just make me chuckle! Sometimes they say things to try and make me laugh, other times they are truly serious, but I can't help but laugh.

The other day Emily tells me her friend has a pooper scooper.

I said, "She does? Sometimes people clean up their yards after their dog goes to the bathroom."

She said, "We should get a pooper scooper."

I asked her if she would clean up the poop if I got one, but she said no.

Then I said, "Well, maybe we should clean it up, because sometimes Skipper eats it." {I know so gross & inappropriate, but it's common for dogs to do that!}

Emily says, "Skipper's a pooper scooper!"

Guess we solved that dilemma!

Best Friends

What would you do without a best friend? I'm not sure...but I know what you would do with your best friend!

{You celebrate birthdays together}

Last night Emily was able to have a sleepover with a great friend of hers and then this afternoon we met up for a birthday party of another friend at the gymnastics center! So fun to jump on the trampolines, hang upside down on the rings, walk on the balance beam and build forts with the colorful mats!
And don't forget cake and ice-cream!

While Emily was catching up on her beauty sleep, Alex and I found some new friends, soon to arrive. We look forward to their arrival every Spring! There is a nest in the roof of the playset where we watch the babies grow! The only thing is the mommy and daddy Robin scare us every time we come to visit! Alex almost had a heart attack when the Robin flew out of the nest when he got to the top!

Being a mom, especially can create that much-needed friendship to get through those terrible two's, potty training, and meltdowns! It's so important to seek friendships whether through a Bible Study, a mothers group like MOPS, or having a prayer partner. I cherish my friendships, not only within my family, but with other moms who provide encouragement, advice and prayer!
