I ♥ Faces {A Touch of Sun}

I ♥ Faces is a weekly photo challenge open to photographers of all experience...I'm a mom...so that makes me pretty experienced behind the camera...right?  ha!

This week's challenge is A Touch of Sun...and luckily we happend to have just a touch of that sun this weekend in between all the rainy gloomy days we've been having...and luckily I just happened to capture little Ellie enjoying some of that sunshine on her face!

It's another gloomy gray day here...but it's a good excuse to stay in my jammies!

and the wonder of this winter includes these two snowbunnies...Elizabeth's first, of course...how could she have been so tiny just weeks ago...she's already growing so fast!

It's already a new year...and it's been a really l-o-n-g time since I've entered a photo in an Iheartfaces challenge...but a lot of things have happened in 2010...

...the most amazing thing being the arrival of this little sleeping beauty...

 

...so I couldn't resist entering sweet little Elizabeth as the best face of our 2010!

I ♥ Faces - Week 30 - {Purple}

This week's challenge is purple!  Emily's favorite color...besides pink!  I had a great vision in my head of how I wanted to enter this challenge...but I never made it happen...nor do I think Emily was up for a photo shoot in this heat!

But I did go back and find this photo of her wearing her purple puffy jacket...

...brrrr!  I'm not quite ready for Winter just yet...but that looks a little refreshing after the sweltering temps we've had lately!

I ♥ Faces - Week 29 - {Over My Head}

It's been awhile since I've entered iheartfaces...and I really miss it!  This week it's all up in the air...or at least over  your head! 

I thought I'd enter this picture of Alex with his birthday balloons from last week.  When we went to pick up his balloons, we laughed at how big the 8 was...it could've carried him away!

It's been over a week...and this balloon is still stuck to our family room ceiling...maybe it will come down before his 9th birthday!

This week at iheartfaces, the challenge is Yellow...and I'm so excited that I took Emily into a muddy, prickly weed field to capture her in a field of yellow flowers just in time for this challenge!

I ♥ Faces - Week 20 - {Faces & Flowers}

It's Spring time {almost Summer!} and I ♥ Faces is challenging us with Faces and Flowers...shouldn't be hard this time of year...perfect!  Maybe...if we haven't had rain every day!  I wanted to take Emily to a field of beautiful yellow wildflowers...but didn't make it thanks to this rain...but...I guess flowers love the rain...so I'll get over it!  And I'll take her there another day!

I ♥ Faces - Week 17 - {Smiles}

This week at I ♥ Faces it's all about Smiles...of course! Seems like the simplest task ever...except it's not! I decided on this one of Emily...not only because I'm partial to her cute little smile...but because I loved these stairs! I want to go back and try for another capture there sometime! They belong to the courthouse...so let's hope we can get back for fun again...and not for a parking violation! Ha!

  Okay...really?  I probably wouldn't have even checked...but someone actually congratulated me!  For what...you ask?  I made Third Place over at Iheartfaces!  Yippee!  Thank you so much!  That is a huge honor...out of over 500 entries!  There are so many talented photographers out there!  I can't take all the credit, of course...Alex and Emily are always winners in my book!  Thank you both for letting me snap a hundred pictures of you a day so that I can capture some awesome smiles and memories!

I ♥ Faces - Week 16 - {Collage}

I ♥ Faces is letting you bring all your favorite photos together in a fun collage!  And since I heart Summer...I picked a few of our most favoritest thing to do when the weather warms up...swimming!  We open our pool tomorrow, so we're ready to cool off and jump in!  Yippee! 

We also like to eat lots of popsicles, plant beautiful flowers {if I can keep them alive!} and lay out and look at the clouds...aaah...Summer...

I ♥ Faces - Week 12 - {Focusing on Angles}

This week at I ♥ Faces...show us your angles!  It's time to get creative and tilt that camera...get down low or stand up tall! 

I chose this one of Alex, Emily and I on good 'ol St Patty's Day!  We had a fun day strolling around our little city taking in the green...of the grass...and the gold...of the sun, that is!  I try and get out from behind the camera sometimes...and it's not always ideal finding some random stranger to capture our memories...so I finally figured out how to use my camera timer after almost a year of having it!  Here goes...

...it worked!  I love it because Alex is holding Emily's hand!  Ha!  I don't think he realized what was happening...until I wanted to try it again...fat chance!  My luck just ran out!

I ♥ Faces - Week 8 - {Hands On} Fun!

"Say cheese high five!"  Iheartfaces is focusing on hands this week!  I didn't think I was going to enter this time...but somehow in those gazillion very few pictures that I have...I seem to pull something out of my hat!

I came across this picture that I took of Emily last Summer when she found a robin's egg on the ground.  I just love that "Robin Egg" blue!  It's my favorite!  And I love Summer...can it get here any faster?  {Who put that groundhog in charge anyway...}

We kept that egg for a long time in a little plastic cup filled with Easter grass...until I forgot about when I tucked it away in a cabinet and found it some time later...um...organize much?  Not the most pleasant smell!

But I love that little hand...and she can collect as many eggs as she finds...just remind me next time where I put them...okay?

I ♥ Faces - Week 6 - We {Heart} Kisses

Aw...it's almost Valentine's Day...and I {heart} Faces is celebrating with a kiss! 

Again...sweet Emily puts on her cutie-patootie face to make me smile!

We just got home from Walmart {again...it's almost like my second home!} and she always gets to pick something out because it's not alot of fun to be dragged there all the time...so she is sporting her new ponytail holders and a heart sucker!  What good mom wouldn't bribe her child by saying..."You can have your sucker if you just let me put on a bunch of lipstick and kiss your cheek...and then take a picture...okay?"  {Ha!}

I really do {heart} her!  I love to kiss her cheeks as often as I can...just maybe not with so much lipstick!

I ♥ Faces - Week 4 {Texture}

This week at I {heart} Faces is all about Texture! I absolutely love the look of texture applied to a photograph...it can change the whole mood and scene of the photo! Unfortunately...I do not have an editing program to make my photos as such...however, I am entering this picture of Emily...using the soft feathers and chunky knit hat as my texture! And besides...who can resist those big, bright eyes...all dressed in pink? {sorry...I can't!}

{She is such a good sport...I had her throw this ensemble on and stand out on the front step in the cold wind and snow!  Anything to enter I {heart} Faces!  I {heart} her!}

I ♥ Faces - Week 3 {We Are Family!}

There's nothing like family...they are always there for you...they make you laugh, cry and sometimes shout! This week I ♥ Faces is celebrating family...either traditional or any idea of what your family means to you! Their only requirement is to include all ages in your photo...not just children!

I chose this picture of Alex and Emily, their cousins, second cousin Kyle, and Great Grandma Martha. This was taken almost a year ago just after Kyle returned home from a two-year mission trip where he spent time in Nepal. He brought back lots of fun jewelry, money and hats native to the country! I love all the kids and Great-grandma Martha wearing their special hats! She will be celebrating her 93rd birthday next month...and she rarely misses a beat!  She is truly amazing!  I love our family and all the many chances we have to get together!

It's my favorite becuase I love his missing teeth...and his big brown eyes! {I'm going to miss that smile soon when his teeth start coming in!}

I just love when my kids are sleeping, don't you? Well, I mean your kids...and so does I ♥ Faces! This week the challenge is to capture your sleeping beauty sweet dreaming! So...once again I've chosen Emily...because she loves to sleep! And not without her blankie...or her thumb...{sigh}...


...I just hope she breaks this habit before college! But for now, I will cherish it, because it's too sweet!

This week at I ♥ Faces the challenge is not faces at all...but tooshies! So fun! I had a few choices and it was so hard for me to pick {as always...I can't make a decision!} In the end...so to speak...I decided on this one of Emily getting ready to pass the pigskin!



We had just returned home from ballet...and I love her little cheeks under her leotard! She's such a petite little girl...but she loves to be rough and tumble too!
