"You're Gonna Miss This...Moment" Carving Pumpkins

Time to join Pam and share the moments we're going to miss one day...because life is so short! Sometimes it's hard to find those moments among our busy schedules, but that's what I love about participating in this...it makes me stop and think about it and appreciate them so much more!

Have I mentioned how much I love this time of year? Because I do...love it! Another part of celebrating Halloween that I will miss besides watching the kids dress up and run around getting lots of candy is carving our pumpkins!




Alex and Emily have so much fun cutting out a face to make it their own...and Emily especially loves the guts! {me...not so much!}






This year Alex and Emily drew their own faces and cut them out on their own...{I helped Emily a little, but she wanted to do it all by herself!}



I love this tradition before Halloween...and will miss it when the kids are older and don't want to hang out with us and carve pumpkins anymore! And I will miss the cute jack-o'lanterns they make!

Fly Guy

Today Alex will be presenting his book report in front of the class...and I'm the one who is so nervous! I've had anxiety over this for 2 weeks...as though it was my homework assignment! I never liked standing in front of class and speaking...my worst nightmare! Alex doesn't seem worried in the least!

He picked the book...Shoo, Fly Guy! and chose and printed which pictures to put on his poster from Clip Art on the computer. He really knows how to do that better than I do! I'm pretty sure he got his 'smarts' from his Daddy! We had him practice his report in front of us the last two nights...but he was less than enthusiastic about it. I hope he performs better for his class...apparently we aren't the best audience!


Wish him luck! {And please don't laugh too much at his costume...it was the best I could do!}

Pump Up the Volume & Party!

I spray-painted it silver and glued ketchup cups {from Burger King!} on it {after painting them silver too} for the knobs and used a hanger wrapped in silver pipe cleaners for the antennae. I think it turned out okay...and Alex thinks it's cool! That's all that matters to me! He also chose to be a JVC! He really knows his electronics!


He was a hit when he had the chance to try it out at a Halloween party at the public library! He only knocked out a few little kids when he turned from side to side!

Emily, was thrilled to get the chance to have pink hair {although the pictures don't show it very well} and dress up in her pink leopard costume...Meow!

Alex and Emily had a fun night playing games and getting lots of treats!

We are excited for trick-or-treating...I really hope the rain holds off! We don't want Alex to short-out if he gets wet...and cats do not like the rain!

{Emily insisted on getting these outfits for the cats! They are hilarious, but Whiskers is not a fan...and Snowball just laid there like the costume paralyzed her! Poor kitties...Emily loves playing with them, but sometimes I have to remind her they are not toys, and they don't want to play dress up!}

{Peak}-a-Boo!

While Dan is enjoying the warm temps of Arizona this weekend attending conferences for work {maybe not enjoying that part so much!}...the kids and I enjoyed the {peak} of the Fall colors here at home. It has been such a wet, cold season so far, but we finally had the perfect Fall day to hike at the nearby state park and take in the fun Fall atmosphere!



The first stop is to ride the ponies! I could not even get Alex near a horse early last year, but ever since his first pony ride, he cannot wait to do it again! I, on the other hand, am not too fond of horse-back riding...they can sense the fear, y'know! {Alex's horse thinks that is just hilarious, because he knows!}

Emily loved sitting on the "front porch" {as she called it}...and I can't blame her...such a lovely view!
