Wordless Wednesday* {Cat Nap}

{*a few words - Emily covered herself with pillows the other day on the couch... I asked her what she was doing and she said she just wanted to take a rest and she didn't want me to take a picture of her!  Ha!  Smart Cookie, that girl!  I guess I do take lots of pictures of them when I catch them asleep!  I love it...it's too cute...I can't help it... so don't get caught with your eyelids down!} 

I ♥ Faces - Week 12 - {Focusing on Angles}

This week at I ♥ Faces...show us your angles!  It's time to get creative and tilt that camera...get down low or stand up tall! 

I chose this one of Alex, Emily and I on good 'ol St Patty's Day!  We had a fun day strolling around our little city taking in the green...of the grass...and the gold...of the sun, that is!  I try and get out from behind the camera sometimes...and it's not always ideal finding some random stranger to capture our memories...so I finally figured out how to use my camera timer after almost a year of having it!  Here goes...

...it worked!  I love it because Alex is holding Emily's hand!  Ha!  I don't think he realized what was happening...until I wanted to try it again...fat chance!  My luck just ran out!

Here and Gone

Spring Break was here...

...now it's gone.  {frown}

Sunny Spring weather was here...

...the rain {and snow?!} is coming....  {bigger frown}

We had gorgeous sunshine all week during our break and enjoyed it every single day! 

Including Friday...yesterday I signed Alex and Emily up for swimming lessons at the YMCA...Yay!  They have always been pretty good swimmers, never afraid of the water... wait, I take that back ...the very first swimming lesson Alex had when he was three, he screamed and cried the whole thirty minutes!  But after that...all was well with the water!  But I still think it's a good idea for them to improve on their ability...and have fun!  Then we had Pizza King for lunch...Alex's choice!  {a tiny joint near the YMCA that advertised free WiFi on the window and had a few picnic tables inside for seating!  Ha!  We love Pizza King and have been to several different ones, but this one was pretty hole-in-the-wall...but still delicious!} 

We walked and shopped at the little shops....Emily got another 'stuffy' {a stuffed cat that she helped fill with fluff and picked out the outfit} because that has become the tradition when we go to Brown County...sigh...
A visit to the candy store...the ice-cream parlor...and a couple of my favorite stores for candles, a couple little knick-knacks {like I need more} and taking in all the rustic charm that I love!

After that...we headed to the State Park to climb the tall fire tower {we almost made it to the top...but Emily was a little scared...and my legs were a little wobbly!} ... and then hit the baseball a few times in an open, muddy field, dodging deer doo!  And the whole time we were having fun...I did not look through the eye of my camera once...did not make the kids stop and look at me...I just wanted to enjoy the moment in 'real life'!

{Okay...you know me better than that!}  I did finally take my camera out only when we stopped at the playground...because I just can't resist capturing them on the playset and swings and with all the trees surrounding us...

...and a few "Okay...smile...look at me!"...

But now our fun, sunshine-filled days, sleeping-in lazy mornings, no homework, no activities...gone.

Back to school and Spelling, Math and AR tests...blah...

The later nights, sleeping on the couch to watch tv, eating chips and popcorn before bed...gone.

Back to earlier bedtimes and no treats after 7pm...boring...

Spring is here...Spring Break is gone...

So bring on Summer vacation!           

There Goes the City...

...again!

Alex and Emily have seen this alot lately...but we've been having lots of fun traveling around it and through it! 

Today we went to the Children's Museum...and although my pictures look pretty much just like the last time and the time before that, I still snapped lots of pictures!  {Because you know someday soon, they are going to be too big to ride the carousel and dig for fossils...and I want to capture every single second of fun!}

Emily could not wait to get to the Barbie exhibit!  It was the highlight of her day {and maybe mine!  I love Barbies!  I mean...loved...ahem...

And do you remember the old Peaches 'n Cream Barbie?  I didn't either until I saw it...and it brought back memories of one I had just like it!  The box said 1985...and it was for sale for $50!  What?  Why did  my mom sell all my Barbies when I was little?  Shoot!}

After the fashion show we had a quick jaunt to Egypt and Alex and Emily got their names written in Arabic! 

 {at least I think it says Alex!}

{And...can I just make a quick statement about Emily's wardrobe? We all know she has her own taste...but I've suggested that she wear those boots...that she got for Christmas...every day since then when it was cold and snowy out...but, no...she has never worn them...until today...almost 70 degrees outside...and what shoes does she pick to wear? Please help me! Ha!}

And we can never leave without a spin on the carousel...

...and as a treat today...they had the slide set up between the 1st and 2nd floors...which they went down at least 5 times!

Last stop...a visit to the gift shop!

Emily chose...of  course...

...a Barbie!  Which includes a lovely tool which colors yours and Barbie's hair pink!  She could not wait to get home and try it out!  {She also told me once we were home that next time we go back...she is definitely coloring her hair pink for the fashion show!  Oh my!}

And Alex chose this marble run...which is really fun...but noisy when all the marbles are going at the same time!

Oh...and I forgot...we always go into the crazy house with all the mirrors where I get all turned around and lost and I have to crawl under to get to this tiny space and take a picture...

...it always makes me laugh at how chaotic it looks...and I am literally bumping into the sides trying to get out!

One day left...boo hoo!  We've had so much fun on our Spring Break...and don't want to get back to school and meetings next week!  Tomorrow will be another beautiful day in the 60's!  We plan on heading to our favorite, quaint little town in Brown County and practicing some more baseball with Alex and Emily!  We hit some balls tonight and they did great!  I'm so excited to watch them play soon!  Alex will have his evaluation next Saturday to help place him on a team...and Emily is excited to get some cleats and her own pink batting helmet! 

Tuesdays with Morrie Annie

The end of Spring Break is closing in...and *Daylight Savings Time is kicking my backside!  I'm so happy that we've had nowhere to be early...because it's all I can do to get my backside out of bed by 9am...and it doesn't help that Emily is right there with me fast asleep...who can get up when you have her little backside snuggled up next to you?  It's been perfect! 

So Tuesday we ventured our well-rested backsides {okay...enough of that...sorry...*DST really has made it hard to adjust...that's all I'm saying!} to visit sweet little Andrew and Annie for some fun in the sun...

...we had a great time playing at the park after a delicious lunch at Steak 'n Shake!

Then off for a few spares...bowling!

{I think Emily really enjoyed playing big sis to Andrew for a day too!}

{Yes...we went to Purdue!  This picture is for Dan! Ha!  I love the irony of Alex's shirt choice that day...well, pretty much every day!  But it was perfect!  And, just so you know...Alex resisted this picture, but he agreed so we could sit in the sweet shop to get a Coke!  What a good sport!}

We had such a great day...and despite Dan's dislike of Purdue {wink!} it's a beautiful campus and there's lots to do!  And Emily absolutely loved taking care of Andrew!  He is super sweet and I adore his big blue eyes!

Thank you so much, Annie, Jon and Andrew for such a wonderful Tuesday afternoon!  It's always a joy to spend time with you guys!  Maybe next time we can get a picture of Andrew in front of the IU campus sign...Ha!  We can't wait to get together again soon!
