"Not Me!" Monday

I did not lose a few pounds courtesy of my gum graft...and I did not gain them back once the stitches finally came out...by eating sprinkle sugar cookies {not while in the car on my way home that I just bought from the Walmart bakery} and washing them down with a hot chocolate from McDonald's. 
{Mmmm!...I mean..."Who does that?  Not me!"}

Nor would I gain even a few extra pounds after all that by eating a peanut-butter and marshmallow creme sandwhich for lunch and a large Diet Coke with chocolate, cherry and vanilla syrups.  {Delicious!  Wait...that was not me...I wouldn't go out of my way to Steak n Shake to request such a complicated soda...what weird person orders that?  I don't know...not me, that's for sure!}

And...since I did not eat such delicious unhealthy treats...I would certainly exercise and stay in shape...not stay inside all weekend in my pajamas with no make-up or shower!  Especially since it did not look like this outside...

...but don't worry...the family room , meanwhile, did not get a fresh coat of Irish Cream paint {Mmm...sounds like coffee!}...

...to show off Dan's our new baby toy electronic necessity...{ahem...}

{oh...I'm not a big electronics person...in fact...I'm probably the only person who does not have an ipod or iphone or even know how to text...really...but, I have to admit she sure is pretty as a picture...and she has won me over!}  Therefore...for her...I did not tape {and untape}, spackle, paint, and even snap the roller pole in two {on accident, of course!} and groan everytime I reached up and bent down to reveal this...

Wow...look at the difference! Can you see it? I know...it does not look like exactly the same color...but all the smudges, fingerprints and holes are sort of completely gone!  {Now...which room is next?  ...sigh...}

{I did not have to take these pictures at night when everyone was in bed...or you would have seen a picture of Dan lounging in the recliner...Alex's electronic snap circuit board pieces all over the floor...and the vacuum shoved in the corner neatly tucked away...}

But I was not a little sad to paint over this...

Alex did not draw this behind the chair in the corner when he was little! 

{Aw...I kind of miss it...it makes me smile to see it now!  Oh...don't worry...there's another one in the entryway...and in our bedroom...and in the office...}

...well...maybe we did not finally make it outside one day...especially since the sun was shining and the snow was sparkly...

Happy {blue}  Monday...I am so not bummed that the Colts lost...but what a great season!

"You're Gonna Miss This...Moment" Roomies

Time to join Pam and share the moments we're going to miss one day...because life is so short! Sometimes it's hard to find those moments among our busy schedules, but that's what I love about participating in this...it makes me stop and think about it and appreciate them so much more!

I love when Alex and Emily get along like best friends...which {thankfully} is often!  My sister and I shared a room growing up...and although we didn't always get along...we have some great memories hanging out and talking and laughing when we were supposed to be sleeping!  Even though Alex and Emily don't share a room, their rooms are right across the hallway from each other...and I love when they play and laugh together in each other's rooms!

After we got Alex's room all cleaned up and realized it still had a floor...he and Emily got his trains out and started playing.

I hope that they will always be great friends and Roomies and feel close enough to come into each other's rooms and have great memories of playing, talking and laughing like I had with my sister! 

{...Just as long as they don't use this time coming up with how the Red Creme Soda got on the carpet or who really ate all the cookies and put the empty bag back in the pantry!}

{And...I'm so very thankful for the Wii and Tom & Jerry OnDemand ...because it's a snow/ice/pajama day today!

...and that I decided to get paint yesterday so that I will get to spend my afternoon in the family room with a paintbrush and a roller!}

Just Stick to the List...

...that's what I need to remember when I go to the store...or else these things come home too...

After seeing Kelli's birthday banner and all the other cute things she makes...I just casually decided to walk down the scrapbook aisle at Walmart to merely look at it...and it just ended up in my cart when I checked out!  So I had to get it...right?  {Don't answer that!}

I slept on it for just one day...before I decided to open it up and try it out!  It's so much fun...and the kids love it too!  Emily immediately started making her Valentine's cards with it...

Alex, of course, went right to work as soon as he got home from school...he is a master of all things with controls!

{okay Cricut...you can stay!  You've definitely become an instant member of the family...we love you!}

...And what about this...

I'm not an animal-print kind of person...but for some reason I really liked this little brown zebra pillow!  So...somehow it came home with me too and ended up on my couch!  Welcome Home, little friend...I {heart} pillows!

{Hopefully it will not bring home any cheetah or leopard pillows to join it!  I think this is all the animal print I need...for now!}

And...I'm not at all responsible for this...but I'm pretty sure Dan did not have this on his list...{or maybe it's been on his mental wish list for awhile}...but I didn't know about it until he said he was going to go get it! 

And because of it...we are now painting the family room!  {Yay...but ugh!}  I will show you more about that when we're all done!  I thought the minor Manor makeover was finished...but I guess it never will be!

Maybe we should just stick to our list next time...but there are lots of exciting things to keep us busy for the weekend now! 

The good news is...that I even had a list at all!  So, believe it or not, I actually bought groceries too!  Taco Pizza,  Potato & Corn Chowder and Pizza Casserole with garlic bread are on the menu this week...but I'm not sure everyone's as excited about that...{Alex is not a fan of eating new things!}  Hey...I never claimed to being a cook...or a crafty person...or a decorator...{none of those}...but if you shop with me...you're probably going to end up with something not on your list...I do claim to be a compulsive shopper...{gulp!}

"Not Me!" Monday

I did not totally lose my cool with Alex last week...tripping over cords, clothes, books and toys all over his floor...stuffing clothes in his drawers that are overflowing with too many things that mostly don't even fit...and cramming whatever I could into his closet and try to shut the door!  Whew...I did not later apologize, tell him I need to be grounded...he did not agree and send me to time out!  {I love him...he is so forgiving!}  Not me...that did not happen...Alex is a complete neat freak...and I never lose my patience...ahem...

We did not eventually fix the situation {temporarily, I'm sure...} together by cleaning up his room, putting things back where they belong...and of course rearranging everything in the process!  We are both not happier...for the moment...{although I'm not sure I like this arrangement better...but so happy to see the floor again!}  He does not already have more cords hooked up than I orginally agreed to...connected to the Clapper!  {You have no idea how challenging that is for me to turn on lights in his room...clapping three times...sigh...}

Okay...now that Alex's room is not tidied up {just remember...do not open the closet...really!}...we will say that the basement is completely immaculate too...okay?  It absolutely does not look like this...{oh boy, brace yourself...}

{It really looks like this...especially since I almost gave myself a hernia moving that entertainment center from where it is now to the other wall...and now it's back again...geesh...I cannot even go down there without having to breath into a paper bag...really...I'm starting to hyperventilate right now...}

It is not my dream to have amazing storage like this some day...

...or even this...

But, of course everything is spotless...not at all covered in drywall dust an inch thick...because that would be gross!

But...we are hoping it will not look like this...{well...kind of...}

...someday...not soon enough!

I am not so proud of Dan for tackling this all by himself...working on it every chance he gets to make it nice for the whole family...not just for him.  Because he certainly did not tell me that it was going to be his little apartment when it's all finished!  {he did say that...but kidding, of course...I think...}

Meanwhile...I am not sporting a new camera strap from Etsy!  I do not have that thing attached to me all the time...of course not!  It does not get me in the mood for Spring with it's bright cheery colors...it cannot get here soon enough!  I am absolutely not in love with the little pocket for my lens cap...so that I will never lose it...maybe.

And...you will never find me laughing at an episode of Spongebob Squarepants that I haven't seen for the zillionth time...when no one else is in the room...because I would certainly change the channel to something more serious and grown-up and not keep giggling at Spongebob's antics...not me!
