Summer {Destin}ation - Days 2 & 3

The second day in Destin was Alex's 11th birthday, so Dan woke up early and he and Emily {my early riser} went to pick up donuts at Krispy Kreme while the rest of us slept!

Then we headed out for another beautiful morning at the beach...

"Let's go!"

Alex and Emily spent all morning building pools for themselves and filling them up with water...

Daddy & Elizabeth were great helpers too!

I enjoyed watching them play while Abby napped under the umbrella

Birthday Boy

It was a gorgeous morning!

After we had our fill of the sand...we headed to the pool!

...we had it all to ourselves...

Abby wanted to take a quick dip too...

We ended the evening with dinner and a walk at the harbor and ice cream...

Having a new baby and a toddler{preschooler}, can sometimes make it a little more challenging to find things we can all enjoy together as a family.  Alex and Emily are very fortunate to have a dad who likes to try new things and find adventure...something their boring  more cautious mom isn't as eager to do...

...so he took Alex and Emily on a waverunner the next morning...

{they LOVED it...Emily said she liked going fast!}

...while I was able to continue on with my morning at my non-adventurous, non-thrill-seeking pace by the pool with Abby and Elizabeth!  {although doing anything with a baby and a toddler can be an adventure in itself!}

We ate dinner at Dewey Destin Harbor Side.  It's always fun to sit and watch all the boats...Dan likes to daydream of owning one!

And a walk on the beach on a beautiful evening to end our day...

I could get used to this!

We enjoyed our first few days and knew the time was going fast once we had already made it through the weekend...but we tried to savor every minute...

...looking forward to a new day...and a new swimsuit!
