Dude's Day {one week early!}

We are having a great Summer so far...the weather is crazy...in the 90's already...really?  And these storms...Alex and Emily are so freaked out when it storms now because of the tornadoes we had before...they are beginning to find a permanent spot on our bedroom floor lately!  I can't believe it's only been a full week now that they've been out of school!  It has been such a busy week!  We are ready for vacation!

This weekend we celebrated Dan and what a great daddy he is! 

{Let me back up...we seriously celebrated Father's Day today!  We both thought it was this Sunday...he had gifts and everything!  Nothing like being ahead of the game...for once!  The only reason we found out is because Dan called his dad to wish him Happy Father's Day and he said...that's next week!  Guess we need to look at the calendar once in awhile!  I told you it has been a crazy busy week!}

Okay...back to Dan's day...
I'm not sure when or how it started...but Alex and Emily always call him Dude!  They say...Hey, Dude...can I have some milk?  or they ask me...Where's Dude?  Ha!

He gives us so much every day...but it's hard for us to find something that is just right for him when it comes to gifts...but they came up with the idea to clean his car for him...inside and out!  Perfect!

They really wanted to surprise Dan...so when he was mowing the lawn...they got to work!

It looks great!  And...of course Dan saw us...but he thought it was so cute!  He loved it!

After their hard work...the weather was perfect for our first campfire of the summer!  Dan has been working on this area forever...and it's still under construction...but it's finally starting to take shape!

{this was actually the first time Alex has ever tried a S'more...he's never wanted to eat roasted marshmallows before...but once he tried it...he wanted s'more!  ha!

It was such a beautiful weekend to spend outside...and I'm glad we celebrated Father's Day...we'll be out of town next weekend anyway...so it all worked out!  Plus...that only means he will get to be spoiled twice!

Fun in the Sun with Friends

Could this weather be any hotter?  I'm pretty sure I looked like a limp noodle today from sweating out every pore in my body...but it was so fun to get together with friends and hang out!  Thanks a bunch Christine for hosting us for such a fun day!

We miss Carmen tons and it's always a treat when she comes back to town to see us all!  And the kids were so happy to see their old buddies!

{Emily and Abby used to look identical when they were about 2 years old...look how much they've grown and changed...well...look how much Abby has grown...ha!

The kids had a ball with this water slide...thanks so much to Aubrey for providing a great time for all of them...however...the boys maybe had a little too much fun with the water cannon...the girls did not appreciate that as much!

And triple thanks to Tammy for giving the moms a shady spot to chat and hang out...she's always prepared!

Since Elizabeth has come along...I feel as though I haven't had much quality time to get together with good friends...but I love that we can always pick up right where we left off...and Elizabeth always seems to find a spot to fit in too!

Thanks Carmen for giving us some more memories with you and your family!  We miss you!
