Master {Sweet}

I think we will forever be updating our home...but isn't that part of being homeowners?  Most of the time it's so fun to plan and transform spaces in our home...but a lot of the times it just makes a mess...and creates another project!

The most recent project we are trying to accomplish is our master bedroom.

I love trying to decorate.  The problem is I love going through magazines and catalogs and it all looks like everything I want...except the prices!  And going out to actually pick and afford what we can actually get is a different story. 

But I'm happy with what we have done...so far...

I usually end up mixing a few new things with lots of other things I already have from all over the house...and then that usually gives me an excuse to go and replace the things I took from other rooms of the house with new things...seriously...it's a neverending job! 

My favorite addition is the photos of the kids that I took on the railroad tracks!  I orderd the bigger 11x14 prints and I love love seeing them the first thing when I walk in the room and the first thing when I get out of bed...well, that is when I'm not gettng up with my eyes half-open and it's still dark outside! 

We may eventually get a headboard...or we may not...that's just one of those things we can't decide.  But overall...we love the changes we've made in here!

There is still a lot more to do...

Dan stained a new door to hang in the bathroom...took down the old door...only to find out the new door and the old door were not the same size...put the old door back up and will put the new door in Alex's bedroom!  So...another project underway!  And we will have different color doors all through the house!  But eventually we will remodel the bathroom.  Dan has his own vision and once he started sharing it with me...we didn't exactly agree.  He wants to get rid of the bathtub altogether...but I think a master suite has to have a bathtub!  I admit we have only used our tub twice in about 8 years...but the kids have loved taking a bath in the big bathtub!  {it's always about the kids anyway!}  So we were debating for awhile.  I said if we ever sell our house, people expect a tub in the master {am I right?!} ...he said we are never moving!  But I said...some day we will sell the house!  ...sigh...

Anyway...Emily used the big bath tub just tonight!

I'm pretty sure whenever we get to that...we'll figure it out!

Because There's Only ONE...

...Emily...

...and I have to embrace the only one I have...

...tights, shorts, leg warmers and arm warmers and all...

...including sparkly ruby red slippers!

I question her outfit choices most mornings...but in the end...does it really matter?

I thought this outfit was definitely questionable...but she said she got lots of nice comments about it...so sweet! 

Maybe I should have her start picking out my clothes...

...well...maybe not!  Only Emily could pull off her look!

I love her!

...Alex...

...because Alex is our sneaky, quiet prankster...

...I have to accept the many tricks he has up his sleeve almost on a daily basis...

...and having  Mr. Thrifty around...my long-time study partner from x-ray school...to keep watch over  his room even after Halloween...

...does give me the creeps when I enter the upstairs hallway...

...but because Alex might get some of his prankster personality from his mother...

...I gotta love it!

{I blew the whistle the other night when Alex was in his room then ran and hid around the corner! bhahaha!  I like to have a little fun too!}

I'm glad there's no other one like them...and they are all mine!

No {Tricks}, but Lots of {Treats}!

I love Halloween!  It may be my favorite holiday, or at least a close tie with Christmas!  I just get so excited along with the kids...their energy is contagious!  It's so fun going out and seeing all the neighbors and the cute costumes...and it was a perfect night!

{Stop...in the name of the law!}

Alex wanted to have a curly mustache and I think his hat was crooked all night!  ha!  He looked so funny!

Emily was a good witch...of course with her own special touch...

She picked out these sparkly red eyelashes and had to have them!  I only wish I had been able to attach them better...they aren't quite on her eyelashes...but she loved them!  And I think everyone had to say something about them all night long!

Even Ellie, our busy little bee, got a few treats too!  She had a great time watching all the activity in the streets!

It always seems like a frenzy trying to get ready for trick-or-treating, and this year was no different!  I had teacher conference with Alex's teacher right after school...and great to hear that he is doing so good!  He's doing wonderful with his math and reading, but her only advice for him was to take his time!  On one of his timed reading tests, it showed that it didn't take him very long!  ha!  He still passed, but he does the same thing at home, and wants to be done with his work!  He also needs to work on his handwriting.  {Just like his daddy! haha!}  It is hard since he is left-handed, but when he takes his time, he has great hand-writing.  I get so nervous thinking about ISTEP and the teacher just cautioned that if his writing is hard to read, it could be counted wrong!  yikes! 

After conference, we hurried home to finish up homework and eat and then get all dressed up! 

We made it in time to greet our first trick-or-treater!  She is our next-door neighbor, and I love her cupcake costume!

Then off to get our own fun treats!

Alex was always way ahead of us...so it just worked out better, because Emily wanted to go to the door herself to say trick-or-treat!  Alex said we were too slow!  He also enjoyed blowing  his whistle at us to  hurry up!

haha!  I love  seeing the pets dressed up too!  Dorothy even had on her ruby slippers!  Too cute!

 We went through the whole neighborhood this year and hit most of the houses...and still had time to pass out candy at home!  Alex and Emily love to hand out candy just as much as they enjoy collecting it!

Ellie watched from inside...until she wanted to go out and  join them!

We always buy tons of candy and I think it's going to be way too much...but it always runs out.  We only had to turn a few people away after we ran out.

And there's always tons more to replace it!

{Emily wanted to count her goodies...so of course Alex had to count his too and make sure she didn't get more!  They both ended up with about 150 pieces!  Good thing Emily has a dentist appointment on Monday!}

It was a great night!  And although I'm ready to put the Christmas tree up now...I'm sad that October is over!
