"You're Gonna Miss This...Moment" Passing the Pigskin

Time to join Pam and share the moments we're going to miss one day...because life is so short! Sometimes it's hard to find those moments among our busy schedules, but that's what I love about participating in this...it makes me stop and think about it and appreciate them so much more! I'm not sure where the week went...but somehow it's the weekend already! I'm sure it passed me somewhere between soccer, gymnastics and ballet...
But there's always time for a moment that I will miss among it all!

Alex and Emily love their bus stop! Several kids wait there and they have lots of fun! A couple of the older boys, probably in 5th grade, pass the football every morning, and today Alex tells me he wants to play football! Whew...thank goodness the sign-ups for that have passed...can we really add anything else to our schedule? What I will miss, though, is his enthusiasm for trying new things. I'm sure I've mentioned this on numerous occasions...but I'm an anxious, nervous person, always a little hesitant to step out of my comfort zone...that's Alex! I've gotten much better at it...and Alex has really come out of his shell too over the last few years! It's so great to see him get excited about something new!

We pulled in the driveway after ballet and Dan beat us home for a change...Alex was thrilled! He said "Yay! Daddy can play football with me!" And that's exactly what he did!




He was really good at it! He was really into it...trying out both hands to see which he could pass with better...he's a lefty, but he thought his right hand worked the best!


He's also extremely excited to take his football to the bus stop tomorrow and to play with it at recess! Don't tell Alex, but he would get killed if he actually played football! He is such a little guy, but with such big enthusiasm! You never know...some of those huge guys had to start somewhere, right?


Emily...of course can not be left out! She actually loves watching football on tv with Dan, so she fit right in!

From ballerina...


...to quarterback!



I will really miss these days where they love trying new activities and living in the moment! They truly inspire me and allow me to open my heart and mind to do the same!

Study Hall

I am not an organized person...far from it...it's more like organized chaos around here! But that doesn't keep me from trying!

I bought these cute little school desk/chairs from the flea market a few years ago and they've since found a home in the basement along with all the other things that don't have a place!


They've been in the play area and the kids have used them occasionally...but the basement is such a mess...they would rather bring all their toys upstairs and play in the family room, instead.

After I saw the creative work of Amanda at i am mommy...I wanted to do the same with these! I know they are old and rusty...but I kinda like them that way...but I want to paint the tops with chalkboard paint! How fun!


This is hopefully going to be Alex's and Emily's study area.




I've made folders for their homework, AR {Accelerated Reader} slips, and spelling lists...


And they should have plenty of pencils on hand, and extra storage underneath for their library books, chalk and extra paper...


My plan is to check their backpacks when they get home and place all the proper papers in the folders and set their homework on top of the desk that they have to complete and turn in the next day.

Before...all the papers would end up on the kitchen island, scattered, with a better chance of getting lost. The desks are now in the sun room and I hope this works for us! It seems good in theory...I just hope I can follow through and help them keep their important school papers organized!

Simply Swinging & Family Fun

It's been a really long week and I'm thankful for the chance to spend Labor Day relaxing at home!

Gymnastics, soccer, ice-skating, dentist, allergy doctor and school has wiped me out, but the weekend has been great spending time with family! My mom and sister and little nephew Hunter came to visit on Saturday...


It was great weather for one last swim of the summer and swinging...









Sunday we met Dan's family {about all 40 of us!} and had lunch!

I love that we are so fortunate to have family so close and can get together for any occasion...sometimes for no reason at all...just because! Today, however, we were celebrating the arrival of Andrew Michael, the super sweet little guy in the front! Congrats Annie and Jon...he's perfect! {Except for the Purdue shirt...but that's not his fault! Only kidding!} And also the chance to catch up with Jeff and Allison who are visiting from Michigan and their super adorable little girl Natalie! Love those cheeks!

I brush my tyth at 7:59 and I woch tv.

I will really miss these writing journals and the great answers Alex comes up with...learning how to sound out the words and spell them on his own!

I sure hope he excels in Algebra, because I'm afraid he might be in trouble with my help!

Practice Makes Perfect...

...well, nobody's perfect...but practice is tons of fun if you ask Alex and Emily!

Emily is really improving her ice-skating and she loves it! Especially when she gets to practice with one of her best friends!

Alex also started soccer practice Wednesday and ran hard! He was eager to get out there and meet the team and play...
