Cancun Cuisine

Cancun had lots of fun places to eat...and I'm pretty sure I did not gain at least 5 pounds in only five days...ahem...

Again...us being early birds in Cancun...most people did not come out to eat until around seven or eight in the evening...but we usually ate about 5:30 or 6:00.  So the first place we went {there was another family there at least!} was called Mextreme and it was a fun restaurant where the waiters would serve us then go on stage and sing and dance!  Emily, of course went right up when they came to our table...while Alex hid under the table!  They played the Chicken Dance...her favorite!

They had delicious chips and the best salsa!  Mmmmm...I wish I had some right now!

The next day we went out for lunch after we discovered a very familiar sign while walking down the beach...

...it was like we discovered a little piece of heaven!  I know we're in Cancun...but we cannot pass up Chili's!  {Emily's wearing her goggles because we went right out to the beach afterward to swim and float in the waves!  Seriously...a little piece of heaven!}

Another fun and festive restaurant called Hacienda El Mortero was where we ate dinner the next night {we were there right when they opened at six 'o clock...we had the place to ourselves!}  It was so vibrant inside...I love the colors in Mexico!  And the waiters were great!  I had the best steak I've ever eaten {I don't eat much steak, though, but it was scrumptious!  My mouth is watering just thinking about it!}

It was a nice, quiet dinner...and as we were finishing up...a Mariachi band was walking in getting warmed up!  Alex was so excited...so we asked the waiters if they would play for us...

...so fun!  But that wasn't all...
People were starting to arrive by now...and as we were getting ready to leave, a magician showed up and did a few tricks and made Alex and Emily balloon figures!

And because Senor Frogs was right across the street from our condo...we had to go there too!  It was very family-friendly by day...but I have a good feeling it gets pretty wild by night!  They have a water slide at the top floor that slides right into the lagoon!  {Ew...Dan and I thought that was a little gross...but I bet it gets used alot! ha!  Emily wanted to go down it too!  We told her she's not allowed to ever come here when she's older for Spring Break! ha!

It was a really fun place, though! The waiters would grab people and take them on stage for dancing and karaoke and they would place random signs next to people while you weren't looking!

{...um...not true...ha! see the water slide behind me!}

Emily ordered the Big Bucket of Shrimp...but we helped her eat it!  And I had a very yummy enchilada burrito!  I love Mexican food!

Finally, we had dinner at Bubba Gump's the last night we were there...even though it was a little bit of a hike down the street.  I love shrimp and clam chowder...and it was delicious!

...and this is what we saw on our walk...

Yikes!  He was a big fella!  There was another one in the grass too...even bigger, with a spiky head...but we didn't stop for a picture...he was moving at us...we moved on quickly!

So...as you might guess...there is definitely no way I could have gained any weight on this trip...sigh...

...but we did do lots of walking to the shopping area and down the beach...

...to get sombreros...
...and a little ukulele...
{not excited for a picture}

...and Haagan Dazs ice-cream for a treat...

I love vacation!  It's a great excuse to eat lots of delicous food and not cook!
{Now...back to hot dogs and macaroni and cheese!}
