It's not even raining right now, but it's in the forecast. Ever since the flooding on June 7th, 2008 I'm sure I'm not the only one who gets a little nervous when there's a threat of rain. This is the bridge that we drive over almost every single day to get into town. This is how it looked after all the flooding last summer! On a normal day, the water level is pretty low and the river bottom can be seen in most places. It's still unreal to me. We were not directly affected by the flood waters, but as a community, everyone was affected in some way. It's such an emotional sight, and I know that there are still people recovering from this. With all the snow that has melted so quickly and rain in the future, I just wanted to take a moment and remember those who suffered from this tragedy. It's easy for me to forget about it because we didn't have any damage, but I know so many who will NEVER forget it! God is always good, and in this situation, so many people came together and put others first. He used this natural disaster to remind us of the good in people and to pull together. We are so fortunate to have loving friends and family and live in a great community and when several people lost all their belongings, it's not the material things that mattered in the end. I will say a prayer tonight for those who suffered and may still be suffering from the outcome of the flood, and give thanks to the Lord for showing us His love and many blessings.
"How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!"
"For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore." Psalm 133:1,3
