A {Pile} in Progress...

Doesn't it always feel like you're in a {pile} of work so deep...it is never finished?
It seems that way around here...even after all the work Dan has done in the last couple of years to update our home...it seems as though it only brings about more work!  {but...secretly...I know he loves it!  If he was completely out of projects to do around here...he would be bored!}

Last weekend we {we meaning Dan!} painted our bedroom...much needed and l o n g overdue!
This weekend we {Dan} stained, trimmed and hung crown moulding...{with only a few minor mishaps...but you didn't hear that from me!}  It looks great!  I'm so proud of him!  It truly feels like a master suite now to us...we are finally grown-ups, ha!
But like I said...one project finished...another one waiting...now we need to tackle the bathroom!  ugh!  And the baseboard trim still needs to be done but...

...here's a preview...

Dan still wants to replace and stain the rest of the trim in the room...but we love how it turned out!
It's amazing how rearranging the room has opened it up and made it feel so much bigger than before!

And just like last year about this time when we decided to take on the kitchen...we still found a little time to enjoy the gorgeous fall weather!

Emily worked so hard on this {pile} of leaves!  She had to stop and take breaks because it was so much work!

ha!  It's still a work in progress!

...but we all enjoyed her effort!

This picture made me laugh when I was taking it...because Emily wanted me to take her picture, and Elizabeth was back there bouncing up and down and laughing like she knew she was crashing the pic!  {stinker!}

It was a great weekend hanging around the house...sprucing it up {minus the minor mishaps!}...riding bikes and taking walks!  And catching up on a few zzzz's while Alex enjoyed a local rodeo with some friends and Emily played at a friend's house.  This season is going much too quickly too!  I wanted to have a fun, cute photo shoot with the kids, but of course they groaned and moaned...and decided hanging with their friends is more fun than hanging with their mother {whatever!}  But real life is what we'll remember and enjoy...not always the posed and cutesie moments I want to capture...

...although these are some pretty cutesie faces...messy hair, dirty faces, grass-stained clothes and all...

I couldn't have captured it any better if I tried!

{okay...maybe I did try a few times!}

The projects will always be there...but these moments with my littles won't!

  1. Love the pictures as always! What is it about the changing weather that makes you want to spruce up your house? I been planning on some sprucing up around here too. I love the stain on the trim by the way. It's such a pretty color.

  2. You got some great shots. I need to get a picture of the kids for Christmas cards. I love, love the trim. You all (I mean Dan) did a great job and that color on the walls is really nice. Fall is going by quickly and I don't want to miss it either. Enjoy!!!

  4. I love all the leaf pictures! We only have like three small trees, so we never have any fun leaves to play in:) We always have a new project going on. Right now it's the camper, but I still have work to do in my master bedroom and a few things on the back patio that never got finished!

  5. I love your bedroom. It looks so good. Love dark wood. Your leaf pictures are so cute and perfect. I have not taken any this year. I am such a slacker. I need to catch up. The picture of Emily with leaves in her hair was too cute! My fav!

  6. I just love the dark wood molding...so classy.

    I agree the time with your kids is so much more important than all the projects we seem to have.
