Our firepit area has taken a beating since last year {another project on our To-do List} ...but we had a great time roasting hot dogs and marshmallows...
{Emily thoroughly enjoys roasting marshmallows...but Alex prefers to eat them straight out of the bag! They are so good...ooey-gooey!}
Emily also had a blast with the sparklers...however, Alex declared he is too old for them! Gasp...break my heart...my little baby... but I think he's just a little timid of them...and is trying to act grown up...ha!
They loved trying to catch fireflies! It's not really too often they get to stay up when it gets dark {thanks to Daylight Savings Time...} so they had the best time trying to find them when they lit up!
Once we were out of sparklers and the fire died down...Alex and Emily were ready for bed...and just in time for a fun fireworks show! Although Emily was already asleep...Alex and I had a great view from his bedroom window of fireworks courtesy of our fun neighbors behind us! They always have the best fireworks! We watch them every year! And since we've rearranged Alex's room with his bed by the window...we could relax in our jammies in the comfort of his bed...no bugs and cool air conditioning...it was the perfect way for him to fall asleep...just don't tell Emily she missed them!
Sunday was a great day to stay in our pajamas until 3pm...not that I did or anything...ahem...
But I did make sure to get some pictures of Alex and Emily in their red, white and blue...
{you can find a few more here...because just a few isn't enough!}
...before we headed to our friends' house for a little cookout and fireworks! We hadn't seen them in so long...and it's so nice to catch up and laugh about the good 'ol days! We had planned earlier to see our fireworks downtown...but it was more fun to sit and chat...make s'mores {with chocolate marshmallows, yum!}...watch our own little package of fireworks and some really great ones from all the neighbors!
{No pictures!}
Alex and Emily had fun playing with their dog Josie too...I think they wore her out!
It was a fun weekend...but two late nights in a row...and we are still hanging out in our pajamas again today with nothing on our list...except laundry! Maybe a little swimming and a drive-thru run for a Reeses McFlurry and Diet Coke!
Happy Monday!
It looks like you had an awesome weekend of celebrating! I love all the pictures of Emily with the marshallows and smores! Laundry is the only think on my list today too...and it is going to take forever!
ReplyDeleteYou could have ended the post with Smores. LOL So yummy and your fire pit looks awesome...super great for roasting marshmallows. YUM
ReplyDeleteWE have yet to let the kids do sparklers. I know...I am so bad.
She sure loves her marshmallows...
ReplyDeleteHe doesn't know what he's missing with the sparklers...
I am so jealous. I bought stuff for s'mores but they didn't get made... didn't get made... still have the stuff. Looks like you had a fantastic time! The PJ morning sounds nice.
ReplyDeleteNothing beats S'mores!! Looks like you had a great weekend and really deserve to just hang in jammies and drink a Diet Coke. Tell Alex I said you're never too old for sparklers...I love those things!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great time! Love all the pictures of Emily eating her marshmallows/smores! How fun!
ReplyDeleteI love pajama days and a run for a Reeses McFlurry sounds amazing! : )
Looks like you had a wonderful holiday. I love this time of year...family and friend get-togethers, staying up 'late' and enjoying the outdoors. Glad you had such a fun weekend :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great holiday! You will have to come visit in Canada sometime. My brother in law just bought 3 McDonald's restaurants...McFlurry's for all...haha.
