...sadly being back from Cancun means back to life...and back to cleaning, doctor appointments, laundry...and a broken air conditioner...ugh! {But at least we arrived home before Tropical Storm Alex blew into town! Whew!}
Luckily the air is cool once again, but the temperature reached 87 degrees in our house on Sunday! So the coolest place to be...although still warm...was the basement.
It is starting to take some shape! I'm so proud of Dan...he has done a tremendous amount of work and made a wonderful cabinet like the Pottery Barn inspiration to hold alot of the toys! We worked on clearing out more of the clutter and making some space for Alex and Emily to start playing again!
Soon {I hope} Dan will have doors to cover the bottom of the cabinet to hide the toy clutter...but it definitely holds alot of junk!
Alex has already set up his karaoke machine and microphones...and the music is pumping! And I've tried to put a few finishing touches on the shelves by snagging things from around the house and other items that were still in storage in the basement.
{Just don't tell Dan that I climbed up on the counter to hang the Game Room sign at the top! Good grief! Of course, he'll know it was me...but I have little patience when I want something done!}
Our goal is to finish the entire project...including new carpet and tv on the wall on the playroom side and to get the theater done on the other side by Dan's birthday...August 26th! Can we do it? I hope so! It will be a great present for all of us!
But...we're so happy with the progress that's been made...and Alex and Emily are so excited to get back down there and discover all their new old toys that have been covered in sawdust for the last couple months!
You have made great progress. I can't believe he made that bookshelf...what talent. That will be a great place for you all to hang out and make good memories. And don't worry your secret climbing adventure will be safe with me.
ReplyDeleteSeriously can he come and build us something like that in our den/play room? That is fantastic and looks amazing! Great job! Can't wait to see the finished product!
ReplyDeleteHoly cazow!!! Your hubby has some talent. I want an shelving unit like that one. It is BEAUTIFUL! I'm sure you will get it all done yet this summer with plenty of time to start enjoying it before baby #3 arrives. Can't wait to see the finished product. Good luck :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks so good and I love that shelf. Wow it is great. That will be the best place in your house when it is all finished...it looks so fun!
ReplyDeleteUm- I am totally NOT jealous of that awesome cabinet and handy work...man- I need a handy man...doesn't have to be my husband...but can it be yours? LOL I love the game room sign..ps, I won't tell!
ReplyDeleteThat is an awesome cabinet! Dan did a really great job...and it really does look like something out of the pottery barn magazine! LOL at hanging the sign yourself...I am the same way about getting stuff done!
ReplyDeleteI am so impressed with the cabinets. Huge KUDOS to Dan!! I would love something like that! And you'll have to start pulling out all the baby stuff once more soon too! Glad to hear you have your a/c back I know how that is!
