Ballerina Girl

Saturday night was finally Emily's ballet recital!  She learns and practices for it all year long...and loves nothing more than the night of the big performance...and it all happens so fast!

She had rehearsal in the morning, and the recital that night...so she was thrilled to put her stage make-up on two times in one day!

{these pictures are before rehearsal in the morning...it was so hot and muggy outside, my camera kept fogging up...so the pictures look a little foggy!}

{sorry...there are just a few tons of pictures...but she loves to pose and have her picture taken when she's all dolled up...and you know I can't resist!}

They are so darn cute!  They did a great job at the recital...but a little unsure during  rehearsal...Emily said it's harder when she can't see herself practice in the mirror!

Time for the big performance!

She was so excited...I had to tell her to calm down in the dressing room...her song was close to the end of the whole show...but she was able to go back stage and watch with some of the other girls.

Finally...the little girls get their chance in the spotlight!

Way to break a leg Emily!  You did such a great job!

I thought we might take a break from dance next year...but she's already asked when her next recital is...and she wants to keep doing ice-skating and add gymnastics...and Alex would love to pick up the tennis raquet again!  I think instead of slowing down...we certainly will be adding to our plate...including another little Martin to the mix too!  But I love watching them and can't wait to see how next year plays out!  {although I think I've also added a few more wrinkles along the way too ...sigh...}

  2. Those pictures are so amazing Carrie. Great job. You look beautiful too and your hair is getting so long.
    WE had to watch the video 3 times we laughed so hard at the lost ballet shoe. I have to give her credit for not going and getting it. She did great. Emily was adorable too...

  4. What a little princess! :) I always enjoy your photos. You are such a good mommy! And it is true...every time you try to slow down a little, they want to add something more instead. Believe me, been there and done that! ;)

  5. Emily looks adorable! So glad she is having fun doing dance. I love the pics of the two of you - so cute.
    The picture of us girls at Bunco turned out great too! It certainly was great seeing everyone and spending time with Carmen.

  6. She is ADORABLE!!!! I love her outfit. I love, love the picture of the two of you giving kisses to one another...precious. I also love how your kids want to stay active and participate in different things. They are going to be so well-rounded.

  7. Oh my cuteness!! She is such a beautiful little ballerina! Makes me miss dance (and the fact that I have 2 boys and NO ballerinas!) Great photos Carrie and my what a long dance for 6 year olds, but she did a great job!

  8. Reagan's dance recital is this coming Saturday... the exact same day and time as her end of year gymnastics performance as well! We are going to have to miss gymnastics after paying out the wazoo for ballet and tap costumes, plus for the tickets to the recital!

    Just like you, I had already planned in my mind to stop dance lessons next year and just focus on school and gymnastics... not gonna happen! Yesterday was awards day at the dance studio, and Reagan received an award for the "most promising preschooler" and now she can't stop talking about how much even better of a dancer she is going to be next year! GOOD GRIEF!
