"You're Gonna Miss This...Moment" Braids and Bows

Time to join Pam and share the moments we're going to miss one day...because life is so short! Sometimes it's hard to find those moments among our busy schedules, but that's what I love about participating in this...it makes me stop and think about it and appreciate them so much more!

As you probably know...to say that Emily is independent is an understatement...she rarely needs or wants my help with anything.  This includes wardrobe choices and hair styling.  I used to feel that I needed to explain the way she looked whenever we would go out in public...but, it's accepted...and that's just how it is...no explanation needed!  Fortunately she does oblige when I at least ask that she go comb her hair...because there were preschool days when she'd show up to class with a wild nest on her shoulders...but I even kind of miss that!

Even though most days she will comb her hair and stick a headband in...I still ask every day if I can fix her hair.  And sometimes she agrees...
...and lets me take pictures of her cute 'do...only if she gets to put some make-up on first!

I love trying to braid her hair and put pig tails and bows in...and I'm going to miss this day when she doesn't want my help anymore...even less than she already does, that is!
So for now...I will enjoy those few times she lets me play with her hair and try to fix it and wrap it in bows and ponytail holders and clips and barrettes!  She's growing too fast...and asked me the other day why she didn't get to have her ears pierced for her birthday ...sigh...   Apparently she remembers those little conversations like that when my answer for those things are  "Well...maybe for your birthday..."
I'm sure she wouldn't hesitate to let me pull her hair up then...so we could all see her sparkly earrings!  But...maybe we'll save that for her next birthday...ahem...

What will you miss someday?  Be sure to stop by Pam's and share that special moment with us too...because you know the next time you blink...you'll miss it!

  3. Love her braid! :) As usual, she looks like a doll baby.
My older daughter, Brie (now 23), had thick, curly hair that grew down below her...ummmmm...bottom. ;) It was beautiful. I had SO much fun fixing her hair and she loved having it fixed differently all the time. On the other hand, Perri (my 12 year old) has never really enjoyed having her hair done and only allows it on 'special occasions'. :( I DO miss it!

  4. What cute hair, I wish I could french braid. I love doing Jamison's hair and she's not a big fan. She likes it when I'm done but not during. I love her lip color.

  6. So cute! I love the braid! My always braided my hair when I was younger. I think that is one of the things I miss most about not having a little girl...bows and headbands and pigtails and braids!

  7. I REALLY hope Melody's hair gets long/thick enough for me to do that kind of stuff before she wants to do it all herself! Emily is so beautiful!

  8. She is ALL girl, isn't she! Love her braid. Can't wait till Audrey has enough hair to braid :) At this rate, she'll probably be 6 before that ever happens!!! Once again, awesome pictures Carrie.
