Let It Snow!

We didn't have a white Christmas, barely even a flake in the month of December, but on Tuesday, January 27th, we finally got the snow we had been hoping for! Not just a little snow, nearly 12 inches! It was such a beautiful sight to wake up to and see all that white, perfect, fluffy snow! Alex and Emily immediately gathered up their gear, and were in full puffy armour, ready to face the elements that awaited them outside! We had the best time! The kids had a great time shoveling piles of snow into their wheelbarrows in the hopes of building a snowman. The snow was too fluffy for that, but by the next morning, we had received about an inch of ice and more snow on top of that! With the second day, we finally got our snowman, and of course named him Frosty! Emily found the perfect arms and Alex dug rocks out of the snow for his face.
They also wanted to find the biggest piece of ice from the driveway and started their own ice collections! On the third day, we were able to sled at a friend's house; and nothing makes you feel more like a kid than sledding! What a great time! By the fourth day with another school cancellation, we were beginning to feel the effects of 'cabin fever' and were able to spend a day out of the cold and out of the house. We headed to the gymnastics center with our MOPS group and then had lunch. So after enjoying a week-long snow vacation, we will surely not enjoy making up those missed days of school in the summer! But for now "Let it snow!"
