{Skipping} Town

I feel like we haven't quite gotten into the groove of summer yet...
yet, it's truly almost half over already!  Having a newborn can really change things, and taking our summer vacation much later this season has made it harder for us to get this summer 'started'...

But one thing we look forward to is getting our weekends started!
We love our family evening walks, having campfires, and late-night swims if possible...

{serious s'more business...}

{no late-night swimming for this one...but still lots of swimming, in her new goggles!}

 ...and we try to visit this place as much as possible...

{discussing summer plans is always better over frozen yogurt!}

And even if we can't skip town for the beach until late this summer...we've found plenty of chances to skip over to the next town to hike, ride ponies, and skip rocks!

I love that we live so close to the Brown County state park because we love taking a little drive during the day, after dinner and any spur of the moment we can to enjoy family hikes...

...and riding the horses...

Emily says she wants to ride the big horses next time, and when I thought Elizabeth would be timid of the horses...

...she loved them, and didn't want to leave!

Dan likes to take the kids to this little creek to skip rocks sometimes too, to give mommy a little quiet break at home...but sometimes I come along and join the fun!

We found a perfect break from the rain for some fun in the sun at a little spot at Lake Monroe on a Sunday drive, where the kids enjoyed exploring, wading in the waves, finding shells, skipping rocks and building with the big rocks...

We are so thankful for Dan who enjoys finding us new adventures, big and small... who wants to come back by summer's end and rent jet skis to ride across this big huge lake...while the more scared, high-anxiety, nervous wreck cautious one prefers a peaceful float on a pontoon boat!

...but until then...we are trying to soak up the most that summer has to offer...getting excited for our upcoming Destin vacation {minus the long drive and packing} and looking for our next chance to skip town, skip rocks and skip the chores to enjoy a fun family day!
