We don't generally make a big deal about our own birthdays, but the kids love celebrating, so who am I to disappoint? Well...I actually have Dan to thank for all the celebrating...he booked us an overnight stay in a family cabin in Brown County, and we enjoyed having pizza and Coldstone Creamery ice-cream cake in the cozy cabin...followed by swimming in the lodge waterpark!
It rained cats and dogs all night long...but it was actually relaxing listening to the rain hit the roof while we snuggled in and played cards and watched tv in the cabin.
The next day was a beautiful crisp fall day...and we enjoyed breakfast and a little more swimming in the lodge, and looking at the beautiful colors of the trees in the park!
We headed to our next favorite place, where we eat caramel corn, drink slushies and vanilla cokes, and watch the Slightly Haunted Puppet Show...our annual Fall tradition...in Nashville!
Ellie decided to take a little snooze along the way...
...but she woke up just in time to see our favorite show...
Getting older certainly isn't my idea of fun...but this birthday weekend was full of fun, family and memories! And if that's all part of getting older...then I guess I'm okay with it!
I am so thankful for the beautiful birthday weekend in Brown County! Maybe I can be thirty-seven every year! {...ahem...}
What a fun weekend! I am seriously so jealous of the beautiful fall sights where you live! I'm glad you had a great birthday weekend with your fam:)
ReplyDeleteFor all the times you've worked so hard to ensure that someone else had a special day, I'm so glad you got your own! The colors there look gorgeous! Ours were beautiful about three weeks ago, lasted for a week and then were gone:(
