And with the temperatures near a 100 degrees on Saturday...and only highs in the 70's for the rest of the week...it's the perfect transition from Summer to Fall! {yippee!}
We had a wonderful day closing out the summer with family at the Lodge in Brown County on Saturday swimming and hiking!
{well...I retired my swimsuit weeks ago...but the kids had a blast swimming!}
{Sam, Emily, Alex, Ellie and Charlie}
{Kevin, Dan, Uncle Dave and Ellie}
They had such a fun time together...
...going down the big water slide...
...playing dodge ball...
...and playing with the big beach ball!
After having a ball in the water park...we headed to the fire tower...
...Alex and Sam were already to the top before I was barely out of the car with Ellie!
{Emily!}
{Alex and Sam with the traditional arm-cross pose! ha!}
{Elizabeth had too much fun at breakfast and watching all the water-slide fun!}
{Ready for a small hike...after a pep talk from Smokey!}
It was a gorgeous day...and a great time! The kids are just growing up so fast...we appreciate these moments to get together with family!
That night...and into the next day...was filled with lots...and lots of rain...but it was much needed! And we all needed the day to lounge around in our jammies and nap...it was wonderful!
{Snowball is snuggled in the basket!}
After the rain stopped...we finally got dressed and took our daily evening walk! I will be really sad when the weather gets too cold for this...but for now...it is perfect!
{okay...maybe Ellie is still in her jammies...but she can still get away with it!}
We have gotten to know some of the dogs in the neighborhood we walk in...and we think these twins are so cute...but we can't get too close, because their bark may be meaner than their bite...and we don't want to find out!
A stop at the neighborhood park for a little break and some swinging...
We ended the day with movie night...we finally finished our Narnia trilogy...so good! I remember reading The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in middle school, and it's been fun to watch the movies!
I love long weekends and I love that fall is in the air! It's been a great summer and this was a great way to end it! {Anyone have any good movie suggestions? I think we will be spending alot of time in here as the weather gets colder!}
Have a great and blessed Labor Day as we spend this time with family!
What a fun way to really end summer. I hope that you enjoy Labor Day. It is so chilly here today. Your nightly walk looks so much fun too. I am sure the kids enjoy it a ton. Great memories.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a really nice, fun-filled yet relaxing weekend! I love lazy rainy days, especially when we all could use a good rest. I adore the fact that you all go for a walk daily. I didn't walk last week and need to get back out there.
