5 Days & Counting...

It's finally starting to set in...the summer is really almost over.  We officially have less than a week before school starts...only five days to be exact! 
It has been a great summer and we are squeezing every last drop out of it!

We were thrilled to finally have a pool party day on Tuesday!

Aunt Betty and Uncle Bill always bring the party with them no matter where they go!  And we had so much fun with Annie and Andrew and Aunt Janet, Kendall, Emma and Cameron!

After they all left...Alex and Emily were bummed that I could not throw them in the air like Uncle Bill can!  {trust me...I tried...not even close!}

I just can't believe the summer snuck away from us so fast!  And next year the school calendar has changed...so it will be even shorter...only eight weeks...but with longer breaks during the Fall and Christmas...  I'm not sure how I feel about that yet...but I guess it will be a new adjustment...

No matter how much time we have...it just never seems to be enough...

...these kiddos are growing up way too fast...and I just wish summer days like this would last so much l.o.n.g.e.r...

Another thing I'll miss about summer are the evening walks we've been taking after dinner...Alex rides his bike and Emily zips on her scooter...while Dan and I huff stride along behind them...

Tuesday night there were thunderstorms brewing just beyond us...and the clouds were so pretty and puffy...and stormy!

I was trying to catch the lightening in the darker clouds...but just couldn't get it! Alex thought it was so cool!

...we eventually got a little bit of that thunder and rain... and a little body snuggled on our bedroom floor! {emily}

Yesterday Ellie had a check-up...which only proved even more that the time is going too quickly!

{she is now just a little over 18 pounds!  She's starting to grow into her head, though! ha!  I love every inch of her!}

And since the Putt-Putt just happens to be right next to the pediatrician's office {how convenient!} we did a couple rounds while Ellie snoozed after her shots...

Alex was so excited that he scored three holes-in-one!

...and Emily was not so thrilled that she couldn't score one...

{she may have been a competitive sore loser...but we're not going back down that road!  whew!  let's just say a slight attitude adjustment might have been demanded!  she's a sassafrass for sure!  Dan takes full responsibility for it though!}

But we still had a fun morning...

...aah... only 5 more days to savor late nights, slow lazy mornings and lunch dates at two 'o clock in the afternoon sometimes...because we have slow lazy mornings!
