A {Magnificent} Break! - Chicago part three

While Emily, Elizabeth and I were enjoying all the pink and red {shopping bags!} at the American Girl Place...Dan and Alex had fun too...checking out all the new technology at the Apple Store and playing with Legos...

{I made Dan take pictures since I couldn't be there...but I wish I was...it looked really neat!}

{Alex came away with a couple sets of Harry Potter Legos and spent the day putting them together once we were home...}

{thank goodness for our basement...these would get demolished by the cats...they were already casing the sunroom as soon as Alex dumped them out!}

Once we met up in the afternoon...we decided to see the views from the top of the John Hancock building...

94th floor...going up...waaay up!

I'm not really a fan of heights...at all...and the thought of going up in an elevator full of people that high made me even more anxious...but thank you Lord for making it one of the fastest elevators around...it was actually a very smooth ride!  Whew!  And the views were amazing...but made me a little dizzy too!

Elizabeth didn't really seem all that impressed by it though...

{meanwhile...Emily is trying to climb over the ledge...good grief!}

She also took advantage of Skating in the Sky while we were there...and showing us some new moves!

Once we made it safely back to the wonderful ground below...let out sigh of relief...what better way to calm my nerves than getting a giant Mr. Goodbar from the Hershey's store!

The overwhelming smell of chocolate made my mouth water...you could almost taste it when you walked in!
It even perked Elizabeth up!

Alex and Emily walked out with a carton of Whoppers...and I could've eaten everything in there!

I wish we could've stayed on the Magnificent Mile just a little bit longer...I sure would've loved to do some major shopping!

But we had a great time and enjoyed our stay!  Being in a big city is so fun and I love being able to walk to so many places and be a part of the hustle and bustle...but it was also great to get home...

to see these many, many, many windmills as far as the eye could see on our way...

 ...and especially to see the lovely green grass and the little tree in our front yard sprouting it's little green buds...

...definitely a welcoming sign of Spring!

  1. It sounds like you had an awesome trip! I love all the pics of your cute kiddos:) The American Girl Store looks like so much fun....but I'm sure my boys would prefer the Lego store for sure! I'm not a big fan of heights either, and I was more than a little freaked out about riding the elevator to the top of the Empire State Building!
