{join up with carissa at lowercase letters and share your random randomness for the week!}
1. {bathroom blues...or greens}
We are pretty much a house of beige when it comes to paint color...but I was completely spontaneous last Thursday after Alex's allergy appointment. First of all, I'm not very spontaneous...second of all, I hate to paint, but I decided to head to Lowe's and just browse paint colors...ended up buying a color {Glass Tile} and went home and got started!
{I also tried to get a belly shot in while I was at it!}
{I'm not sure Snowball likes it...she's looking for the way out!}
I think it turned out okay...I'm terrible at picking out paint colors...but it does look better than the dirty, dingy beige that was there before! And although it's the smallest room in the house...it took me forever and my body paid for it with all the bending over {behind the toilet...yuck!} and reaching up high! It's a bluish/green, robin egg color...not exactly what I was going for...but I don't hate it because it does remind me of the beach and that's what I love!
2. {20 weeks...and about 20 cupcakes}
I am now 20 weeks along...and have consumed about 20 cupcakes since Alex's birthday...ugh! I'm feeling pretty good...but get heartburn alot more and feel like I'm carrying around a bowling ball!
{Alex also informed me how much he is growing and he is now up to my boob...lovely! Ha! But he's right...more like my armpit...sigh...and pretty soon it will be my shoulder...}
Why do they grow up so darn fast?
I hopefully get to find out if we'll be painting the nursery pink or blue next week...or maybe a light green just to be safe!
3. {a piercing situation}
Emily is still constantly telling us how much she wants to get her ears pierced...so we came up with a solution...
We've encouraged her terrible habit over the years of sleeping in our bed, and she has always gotten up in the middle of the night to come to our bed, and we just allowed it...because she won't be little forever...right? Well...with a new baby coming and mommy needing to get better sleep without little elbows and knees in my back...we've decided that if she can stay in her bed all night by herself for two weeks...her reward will be to get her ears pierced!
The very first night...she came right to our bed...and we let it go...not a great start. So she did not get to put a sticker on the calendar. The next two nights were rough too. I heard her door open around 12:30 am and she stood in the hallway and called my name...so I layed with her in her bed for a few minutes, then she got up two more times, but back to bed she went crying. The next night she just stayed in her bed and cried, so I layed with her again. I gave her the stickers for those nights still...because she's trying and it's got to get better, right? {anybody else know what I'm talking about?} I told her me coming to her bed can't happen either...everyone needs to stay in their own beds! And we will add on another week if this keeps up. I know she can do it...bad habits are hard to break...but I'm just as determined and excited for her to have pierced ears too!
{modeling her pretend sticky earrings}
4. {midnight snack}
Pickles and vanilla wafers make a great midnight snack while watching Jay Leno...and telling Emily to please go back to bed again ...sigh... {these could be a long two weeks...it's hard on me too...that's why it's gone on for so long...her tears are going to break me...I might need some more pickles!}
5. {it's like butta'}
Speaking of snacks...Emily asked me yesterday if she could eat a stick of butter! Ew! She loves butter...but I have to draw the line at that! Ha!
Hope you all have a great Monday...and make your random happenings interesting!
Oh...it is so hard to break them being in bed with you. They feel so secure next to us...but...Oh it is just hard. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteLove the bathroom and the belly shot. You are still so tiny.
Alex on the other hand is growing like a weed. Pickles and vanilla wafers?
That is hard not letting them in the bed...I understand. It's good that you're doing it now and now when the baby is here. You guys are doing great. Um, I think the bathroom color is great and goes well with your theme. Oh and I love the basket you have on one of your shelves. Alex is getting tall...wow. I can't wait to find out the gender of the baby...fun times :)
ReplyDeleteI love the new bathroom color! I have a hard time picking out colors too...that is why every room in our house is the same color we painted it when we moved in 6 years ago:) Alex's comment about how tall he is cracked me up! Good luck with getting Emily to stay in her own bed. My boys have never been allowed to sleep in our bed, so I never had to try and break that habit!
ReplyDeleteHi...finally getting back into the swing of things after vaca and catching up on my fav blogs!
ReplyDeleteHappy 6th to Alex...I keep telling my boys they need to stop growing too...geesh!
You new color in the bath is very soothing and calming...love it! and your belly shots are so very adorable! You are so tiny...with colin I was a house!
And so hard to stop them from coming into your bed at night. We did it in steps from my bed to my floor to the floor in his room to his bed. I hope that it is quick and painless for both you and Em and that she gets the reward she so greatly desires!
Have a great week!
Love the new bathroom! Just wait.... I have to look up at my son now... something is just wrong with that :) Best of luck with Emily's ear piercing :)
ReplyDeleteI love the new bathroom color. I think it's perfect!
ReplyDeleteA whole stick of butter?!?! Oh my ... I had to laugh, though ;) Good luck with the ear piercing. I got them pierced when I was around Emily's age and I was so happy ;)
Have a blessed week,
Kate
I love the bathroom color...it looks great! I painted our guest bath, but it is a lovely shade of kakhi. I really need to branch out and paint another color.
ReplyDeleteAwww...bless E's heart. Layla has been getting out of her bed alot too lately. She has to be so tired...I feel like she never sleeps. But thank goodness she gets back in her bed. I'm sure in just a few more nights E will be used to the routine of staying in bed. Her ears will be so cute pierced. Layla has done great cleaning hers....I am acutally surprised. I thought I'd be cleaning them.
20 weeks already...where does the time go? You look great :)
I love the color Carrie!! It's so much fun to have something bright and that reminds you of something you love. I think bathrooms are the hardest rooms to paint. There are so many permanent pieces along with all the nooks and cranies in a bathroom.
ReplyDeleteYou look wonderful and have that pregnancy glow. I can't wait to hear what you are going to be having. I'm so excited for you!!
My heart goes out to both you and Emily. Habits are very hard to break.
yes, kids in the bed always makes for bad mornings for me! my twin girls got their ears pierced last fall, one got hers knocked out on the playground, so the other had to have hers taken out too b/c her sister didn't have hers anymore! $60 wasted :( - loved the post! stopping by from misc monday!
ReplyDeleteAAWE!! I love the belly@ I love the bathroom colors! I am a color kinda girl. That bathroom is fabulous! As for your children they are adorable!

This post was so fun! I love the paint color you picked, you look so darn cute with that baby belly and I TOTALLY know what you mean about having a little one in bed with you. Mine is my oldest...he's been crawling in with us since he was two and it is a hard habit to break for sure! I keep telling myself before school starts we will have to put an end to it but I sure am going to miss his snuggles some day! Wishing you all the luck! Can't wait to hear what you are having (if you are going to divulge, that is!)
