Time to join Pam and share the moments we're going to miss one day...because life is so short! Sometimes it's hard to find those moments among our busy schedules, but that's what I love about participating in this...it makes me stop and think about it and appreciate them so much more!
Thanks so much for all the Birthday wishes for Emily! I just love celebrating the kids' birthdays...because when we get older...it's just another day. I love the energy they have nearly a month in advance about their upcoming birthdays and planning the decorations and what kind of cake they want...and all those really
Emily had lots of fun taking pink and blue sprinkled icing cookies into school to celebrate her birthday, hearing her name over the announcements and getting her special pencil yesterday! We went for lunch at Steak n Shake, went to Walgreens to spend her $10 from Great-Grandma Martha {Thank you so much!} on magic 3D bubbles and a pink & purple glitter baton, baked her cake {white cake with chocolate frosting, sprinkles and a cat...her choice!}...
...took a small nap {me...not her!}, went to ballet, Menards {for a lightbulb that Walgreens didn't have} and picked up our birthday pizza for dinner!
She barely ate her pizza...quickly blew out her candles {without making a wish...she didn't have time for that!}...and got busy ripping paper...
I cherish these birthdays and the traditions each year because pretty soon it's going to be just another day to them too...and I will miss when they help make the cake, put up the decorations, ask for Littlest Pet Shop and Barbies and get together for family parties...and when they just want to hang out with friends instead, ask for money and don't want all the fun decorations and balloons anymore. But that doesn't ever happen, does it?
...sigh...
So what special moments will you miss someday? Or maybe something you won't miss...visit Pam and share them with us too!
What a fun birthday! I love her cake...and that she helped make it! The picture of her cracking the egg is too cute! I'm so glad she had a great day...and maybe it will be along time before her birthday turns into just another day!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! She looks like she had a great day! Enjoy buying the toys... this past Christmas was the first time I have not bought a "toy" for either of my kids.... kind of sad. Now their idea of a "toy" is a whole lot more money! So glad you had a wonderful day with your birthday girl :)
ReplyDeleteI will miss that too as I am already starting to plan Stunt Man's May party. As you remember my girls 8 & 10 opted out of the big party already this year. Boo Hoo. It doesn't last forever so hang onto these days because you will miss it. I did last year with the girls parties *sigh*
ReplyDeleteLove her little tongue and concentration. The picture of Alex throwing the paper was so cool too.
SOOOO sweet. Looks like the perfect birthday.
ReplyDeleteAwww...what a great looking birthday! It looks like she had such a fun time!! That cake turned out adorable!! Next time can you send a piece to Chicago please?!? :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a special day you made possible for you precious little girl. Her little tongue sticking out while mixing her cake is ADORABLE!
ReplyDeleteI will miss the big, huge birthday celebrations too. We make a huge deal out of b-days in our house too and I hope we will for a long time to come :)
ReplyDeleteCute pics Carrie!
