Time to join Pam and share the moments we're going to miss one day...because life is so short! Sometimes it's hard to find those moments among our busy schedules, but that's what I love about participating in this...it makes me stop and think about it and appreciate them so much more! Be sure to stop by Pam's and share your moments with us!
If you know Alex well...{or even if you don't!} he is quiet and usually a boy of not many words. So you can imagine the responses I usually get when I ask him about school and how his day went.
"How was school today?"
"Good"
"What did you do?"
"Nothing"
"Who did you sit with at lunch?"
"Nobody"
...you get the idea!
The other night when it was bedtime, I went to check on him and lay with him for a little bit and we had a nice conversation about school and how it was going. He told me about recess and lunch and who he plays with and some of his new friends...about their daily routines and what he did in gym class.
He is growing up so fast and I wish the only things he ever has to worry about are what's for lunch and his spelling words!
I will miss it someday when he might not want me to go in his room and talk with him and have him open up to me about school...or anything! I love when he's calm and quiet, not distracted, and has a genuine conversation with me! I hope that he will always want to talk to me about anything and cherish those special moments with his 'mommy' {sigh!}
What will you miss someday? Be sure to visit Pam and see other special moments and tell us what you will miss!

it is a special time when those boys actually speak to us in more than one word answers!! such little men!!! :) great moment!!
ReplyDeleteSeriously...if you keep taking the time you are I'm sure he will always want to talk with you. That was a really nice post to read. We are still having some serious issues with our oldest.
ReplyDeleteWhat a special time for the 2 of you to catch up! I try to do that in the car with the boys too...sometimes they talk and sometimes they don't, but I know what you mean about missing that moment in the not to distant future!
ReplyDeleteAlex sounds alot like my son Josiah. He is quiet and usually answers all of my questions the same way too. He always has been a boy of very few words but he is a deep thinker and I know he is always processing. So, when he is ready to talk, he talks. And I love it. He is 15 now. And he still allows some wonderful conversations with his mommy still today. I will definitely miss them. So, I am going to savor every one of them.
