Ice Princess

It's a beautiful and sunny mid-60's degree day, and we decided to spend it inside on the ice!


Emily has been taking ice-skating lessons for a few months now, and although she's no figure skater, yet, she truly loves it!

And Alex, who has not taken lessons {with the exception about two years ago, he tried hockey, but cried and didn't ever want to do it again!} tells Emily he can skate better than she can! {ah, the sibling love!} So after much begging, I finally took both of them to the open ice-skating session, so we could all show our skills! I will admit, I was scared! I haven't ice-skated since high school {just a couple of years ago} when Dan and I were on a date, and I didn't let go of his hand! But once I stepped onto the ice, it was almost like riding a bike! I had the best time, and I can't wait to go back! Alex, gave it a great try, but he did hug the wall most of the time or thought it was more fun to crawl on the ice! But he had a blast!

Emily will get to skate in an ice show next weekend, and she is so excited! It is so cute to watch the little girls out there! She's not the most graceful, and she skates like she has a wooden leg, but she keeps telling me what a great ice-skater she is! I love her confidence and fearlessness! If it were not for my kids' spontaneous suggestions and no-fear attitude, I would probably not get out much! I love that they can keep me young at heart and allow me to try new things again!
