15 - Love

I love having the opportunity to experience Alex and Emily pursue new activities! When I was a kid, I didn't try new things because I was always so shy and not confident in what I could do. Emily has no trouble expressing herself and being the first to say "I want to do that!" Alex, on the other hand, takes a little more encouraging to try something different. He is a little more on the nervous side {wonder where that comes from} and takes him awhile to warm up to something new. Although, he has become much more confident in himself and strives to do his best! It was his idea to try tennis, and I was so happy that it was his choice and not something we decided for him to try! I think that makes all the difference in his attitude, too. He loves going to his lessons and has so much fun!

He has already completed one session and Emily wanted to try too, so now they are in the same class. It's great to see Alex improving and I had a good chuckle watching Emily for the first time! She's such a little thing, but her legs move so fast! She had a great first lesson, and I'm excited to see her improve as well!

Look out Williams sisters: the next doubles champs!

I'm nothing close to being athletic and never played sports growing up. About the only thing I know about tennis is that the ball needs to go over the net! I was more creative with art. So, I haven't really pushed them one way or the other. I've truly enjoyed watching them choose their own interests and watching them have a desire to exceed. Alex has also had a ball with golf and basketball, while Emily is dipping her toes in ballet and ice-skating! It will be fun to see where their interests lead them, and hope that they know I will always be their biggest fan!

  1. Both hubby and I were big in to athletics, so we encourage the kids to get involved with it all, try each sport for one season and if you don't like it try something else. The girls are in Theater right now and love it. So do I. Show nights are so awesome.
Great editing on the pictures. They are both so cute with their little rackets.

  2. How fun! They look so excited! I was never big into athletics either. I was always stuck in a book.
